An Invention for Easy Semen Collection from Dromedary Camels, El-Hassanein Camel Dummy |
Safest, best natural and reliable technique for easy semen collection
Its design and external symmetrical feature help in rapid male training.
Its trembling neck with head copulation helps in motivation of male’s libido during training and semen collection
Helps in prevention of males against infectious and venereal diseases
Copulation duration by this technique elongates with multiple ejaculations and gives semen quantity apparently comparable with the
natural semen ejaculation of dromedary males.
Persistent abundance of semen by this technique in camel AI centers provides excellent prospects to develop extenders with optimal additives needed to eliminate viscosity of semen and to improve sperm freezability during processing
Camel breeders having elite males can utilize this technique in their farms under supervision of a camel AI center for collection, dilution and either applying timed insemination of hormonally induced females or processing and freezing for ling term storage in the camel AI center.
Obviously, this technique helps in the best possible utilization of the desired genetic resources of the elite dromedary camel breeds
Camel Selection
Determining sexual maturity in male camels involves a combination of factors, some physical and some behavioral. Here are some key indicators to look for:
Physical signs:
- Age: While camels can reach puberty as early as 3 years old, they generally aren’t considered sexually mature until 5-6 years of age. Some may not reach full maturity until 8 years old.
- Body size: Mature males tend to be significantly larger than females and younger males, with a heavier and sturdier build.
- Humps: The humps of mature males become noticeably larger and more pronounced compared to females and younger males.
- Testes: The testes of mature males descend fully into the scrotum and become larger and firmer.
Behavioral signs:
- Mating season: Mature males exhibit increased sexual activity during mating season, known as musth. This typically occurs between February and May in the Northern Hemisphere and August and November in the Southern Hemisphere. During musth, males become more aggressive, may make guttural sounds and grind their teeth, and show increased interest in females.
- Mounting behavior: Mature males attempt to mount and mate with females, although successful breeding may not occur until they reach full maturity.
- Scent marking: Males mark their territory with urine and other secretions more frequently during musth.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind:
- Veterinary assessment: While physical and behavioral signs can be indicative, a veterinarian can provide a definitive assessment of a male camel’s sexual maturity through semen analysis and other examinations.
- Breed variations: Sexual maturity may vary slightly depending on the breed of camel.
- Environmental factors: Nutrition and overall health can also influence the timing of sexual maturity.
It’s important to note that camels are wild animals and should not be approached or handled unless you are a trained professional. Observing their behavior from a safe distance is the best way to assess their maturity.
